Greetings!! I'm Shantel Crosby, PhD, LCSW--owner of West Rose Therapy & Consultation, LLC, a mental health therapist, a tenured Associate Professor of Social Work, and consultant. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a Master's and PhD in Social Work, and am widely published in the area of trauma, trauma-informed practice, and equity. I am currently licensed to work with residents of Kentucky & Michigan, and all of my clinical services are conducted through telehealth using web-based video conferencing.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with many types of clients, including those with complex trauma histories, high-functioning individuals, those trying therapy for the first time, as well as other mental health providers. I've seen, both personally and professionally, the impact of therapy--it's ability to transform individuals, relationships, and families. With this in mind, I'm passionate about working with individuals from racially marginalized communities to help them to unlock this transformative power, while also normalizing mental health and wellness within communities where stigma often looms the largest.
I have experience helping individuals to address issues of depression, anxiety, stress, relationship/family issues, past or present trauma, and to navigate challenging life transitions. With extensive experience in supporting individuals exposed to trauma, I'm trained in a variety of evidence-informed modalities to help clients achieve their goals (e.g., CBT, KRTT, & EMDR--currently in EMDRIA-approved training process). I recognize that each client's lived experience is unique. So, I adapt my approach to best meet their specific needs, while providing a safe environment to empower them to overcome life's challenges. If you're seeking a welcoming and supportive space to address your mental health needs, I'm here to help.
For 10+ years, I have delivered workshops, trainings, and facilitated implementation and evaluation services to address trauma, trauma-informed practice, equity, and organizational culture within schools and community organizations. I have worked extensively with schools and school districts, including the largest school district in the state of Kentucky (i.e., Jefferson County Public Schools) to evaluate school climate, train staff on education equity and trauma-informed practice, and implement organizational change. I have also conducted training and program evaluation for Be The Change, LLC (Louisville, KY), the Center for Trauma Resilient Communities (Winston-Salem, NC), and the MONARCH Trauma Informed Education Project (Detroit, MI & Los Angeles, CA).
Outside of work, my faith, family, and friends are the most important things to me! I'm a Detroit, MI native, but currently reside in Louisville, KY. I'm also a foodie who loves traveling, listening to podcasts, and getting lost in a good book! Interested in connecting? Contact me if you'd like to learn more about how West Rose can help!
